Integrated Design Leader

We are currently looking for an Integrated Design Leader to join our growing New Orleans and Washington, DC studios.

About the Job

The Integrated Design Leader serves as catalyst to align building performance, building science, and building systems throughout project design towards the goal of producing beautiful, resilient, and climate-aware architecture. This position has the responsibility to inform, guide, and impact work within the firm by integrating the efforts of architects, interior designers, landscape architects, engineers, and clients to develop practical, cost-effective approaches to establish and then achieve high performance goals.

This individual will work to be a thought leader in key topics such as lowcarbon design and construction, regenerative design, and design informed by research on the health and productivity impacts of indoor air quality, daylight, and views. They will convey this thought leadership to clients and the profession through participation in project interviews, design workshops, conferences, and publications.

This role provides internal leadership and guidance on building and human performance metrics, measurement, management, and design evolution. This encompasses a variety of consulting, research, analysis and advisory tasks around building performance. Responsibilities include conducting and coordinating in-house research efforts and using research results to inform design decisions.


Integration of all members of the design team (architects, interior designers, engineers, and clients) throughout the design process to establish and achieve performance goals

Enhance adoption of the principles of the AIA Framework for Design Excellence throughout project design and execution.

Continual improvement in firmwide performance as tracked in the AIA 2030 Commitment

Advising teams to help projects achieve certification goals

Building shared understanding with existing clients and staff and attracting and retaining new clients and staff aligned with these firm goals


Qualified candidates must have at least five years of recent experience in a similar role.

Applicants should be comfortable in Revit, Rhino, or both, and be able to show through their portfolio that they can communicate complex technical results simply and clearly. Excellent collaboration, presentation, and problem-solving skills.

Professional degree in the field of design and construction (architecture, engineering).

LEED or WELL Building accreditation, or experience with Living Building Challenge, Enterprise Green Communities, or PassiveHouse certification is a plus.
