Walker's Imaginarium is a visionary space that expands the Child Life programming where children undergoing treatment at Children's Hospital New Orleans can explore, learn, and play in a safe, therapeutic environment. This 14,482 SF, two-story facility, complete with a rooftop putt-putt course, is designed to bring moments of joy to children, their families, and the wider community.

Through a partnership between Kids Join the Fight and Children’s Hospital New Orleans, the Imaginarium offers a unique space that fosters positive healthcare experiences by centering care around the child. By integrating play into the healing process, the Imaginarium aims to improve the quality of care, outcomes, and the overall experience for both patients and their families.
The Imaginarium is filled with engaging exhibits and interactive experiences tailored to children of all ages and abilities. Key features include the "Ryan Seacrest Studio," a space for creativity and media exploration; "Creative Flows & Throws," featuring the "Krewe of Walker" float; "Porch Life," with a butterfly swing; "Moves & Grooves," a lively dance floor and stage; and "Bayou Beat," "Funky Forest," and "Airboat Adventures." The rooftop "Putt-Putt Parishes" course, inspired by the parishes of Louisiana, adds an outdoor element to the play experience. A reconfigured teen room provides older children with a space to relax and socialize.

The design of Walker's Imaginarium emphasizes universal design, access, and health. Key goals included creating a space with impactful material health, promoting patient well-being through thoughtful design, and ensuring accessibility for all.. Biophilic elements, such as views of surrounding trees, enhance the connection to nature. Features like a monumental staircase and ramp encourage movement and physical therapy. The Imaginarium accommodates neuro-diverse needs with spaces offering varied levels of stimulation and is equipped with a dedicated HVAC system to maintain superior air quality.

Walker's Imaginarium stands as a testament to his legacy, offering a sanctuary where children can find moments of happiness and families can come together, even in the midst of difficult healthcare journeys.
